ELL TEACHER

The ELL teacher is responsible for the safety and well-being of students under his/her tutelage. The teacher is responsible for the presentation of accurate and interesting information that will educate the children to the highest level possible for the grade level taught. The English Language Learner (ELL) teacher is part of the TAAS ELL program.

Key Responsibilities

• To work with students who have low ability levels in using the English language.
• To work in collaboration with assigned homeroom teachers to give ELL support either as an in-class support or in out of class teaching sessions based on the needs of their ELL students.
• To collaborate with the homeroom subject teacher in developing language appropriate strategies for teaching.
• To create and implement lesson plans designed to help students to improve their English ability so they can be successful in the regular classrooms.
• To work with the Director of the ELL program to develop and improve the ELL curriculum here at TAAS.
• To help in supervision where needed
• To arrive on time for Staff worship and to be ready for the children when they arrive.
• To provide quality instruction on the assigned class assignments.
• To provide quality instruction in writing, vocabulary, reading experiences
• To provide a safe and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
• To treat students with respect and love
• To promote Christian values and examples in the classroom.
• To hold up SDA beliefs and values in the classroom.
• To model Christian courtesy and friendship before the students.
• To make lesson plans at least one week in advance taking into consideration the different learning needs of each student.
• To develop the daily curriculum to provide the best possible impartation of knowledge needed by the students.
• To supervise his/her students at all times whether in the classroom or outside the classroom until the student has been picked up by parents or turned over the bus monitors.
• To be willing to attend staff meetings as called in the evening or afternoon.
• To be willing to attend after-school hour functions that students are involved in.
• To keep their classroom in proper order and function and clean and attractive for students and visitors
• To follow prescribed curriculum as outlined in textbooks and curriculum guides.
• To utilize and integrate technology as appropriate for subject and grade level within daily teaching.
• The ELL teacher is considered a regular teacher and is expected to be just as much a part of the staff as any other teacher and will abide by the policies and rules in the handbooks for Taipei Adventist American School.
• The ELL teacher will be part of the scheduled rotations for staff worship and morning and afternoon supervision.
• Be a part of any committee set up for TAAS and may be on AdCom.
